Taos Eco Park’s 2nd Annual NCAA & Club Soccer Showcase Kicks Off The Town of Taos has announced Taos Eco Park’s 2nd Annual NCAA & Club Soccer Showcase will be held on consecutive weekends in April, (Saturday, April 14 and Saturday, April 21). This year Taos Eco Park will be hosting women’s and men’s NCAA soccer teams, as well as girls and boys club soccer teams at its state-of-the-art multi-purpose FIFA 2 Star synthetic turf field complex.
The 2nd Annual NCAA & Club Soccer Showcase will be a fun, family friendly event that includes: hot air balloon rides, a food tent from the Taos High School Culinary Arts, Taos Eco Tourism education exhibits, llamas from Wild Earth Adventures, river rafting by Los Rios River Runners, the nationally acclaimed Taos High School Earthletes exhibiting soil and water conservation education, New Spin Tops “trompo” demonstrations, music between soccer games, and other fun sports, recreation and youth offerings.
In addition to the live action of the soccer games on the field, the games will be broadcast on live streaming Internet at Taos-Sports.com and include a media tent with live streaming Internet of post-game player interviews and live radio remote broadcasts.

2010, 2011 BOYS AND GIRLS DISTRICT CHAMPIONS!!!
THS Tigers finished with a season record of 12-7 winning the District Championship for the second time ever. The THS Lady Tigers finished with a 16-3 record making it their best ever finish in program history. This is the first ever district title on the girls side. The girls also finished with a team average 4.2 GPA in the classroom! Congratulations to both!

KATLIN OKAMOTO: SOCCER WITHOUT BORDERS
Katlin Okamoto has started the Soccer without Borders Girls Program. Katlin, who is a recent graduate of Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado is an accomplished soccer player and student. She was the captain of the Colorado College Women’s team and helped guide them to the NCAA tournament last year for the first time in more then a decade. She also excelled off the field where she was an honor roll student majoring in Biology and Asian Studies. Katlin, a native of Taos, New Mexico, joins the Soccer Without Borders team as the Director of Girls Programs and is currently in the process of designing a progam that will promote girls involvement in soccer as well as encouraging self-esteem, leadership and healthy choices amongst participants. “I am looking forward to promoting girls involvement in sports in a way that respects cultural practices and is sustainable for the future." says Okamoto. More information about the Girls Program will be provided soon.
